Training for success

Training documents target at least two groups: the trainers themselves and participants at training courses

When designing training courses, aspects such as learning targets, teaching methods, and general conditions such as the available time have to be taken into account. Once the training course is designed, the information that has to be conveyed can be compiled in a meaningful way. Furthermore, training documents have to meet similar requirements to technical documentation:

• Possibility of reusing idential contents (modularity)
• Possibility of cross-media publishing
• Suitability for translation

Training documentation therefore has to be as structured and standardized as technical documentation if it is to meet these criteria. This is especially true if it is written by a number of different trainers. Ideally, existing material should be leveraged, e.g. from technical documentation, or reused.
